Transformative living by connecting with your most authentic self.

What’s in a name?

Medieval cartographers supposedly inscribed the phrase hic sunt dracones (here be dragons) on the edges of their maps to mark the uncharted territories of the world. This phrase was meant as a warning—we don’t know what’s out there, all we know is that it is dangerous. Too often, we treat the unfamiliar territories inside ourselves with the same dread and suspicion. As a result, our lives and relationships are often marred by disconnection and fragmentation—there are some parts of our identities that are wholly unacceptable to us.

My desire is to transform the old warning into a modern invitation. Counseling is difficult work. Until we each can learn to accept who we are, we all will find ourselves constantly chasing notions of who we should be or who we wish we were. We can never measure up to who we are not. If we are instead invested on living fully into who we are and taking personal responsibility for our lives, then we will find ourselves growing into who we were made to be. Together, we will go on a journey to examine the uncomfortable parts of who you are and learn how to marvel at them rather than avoid them.

Hi, I’m Joe. I grew up and have lived my whole life in Central Texas, where I graduated from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor with a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and where I now serve the community as a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate.

In my downtime, I’m an avid Dungeons and Dragons player, and I love a good strategic board game. I’m also fond of nature and the outdoors—I could spend hours wading down a river and fly fishing. I’m big on reading and spending time with my wife, children, and dog.

In counseling, I bring a unique mix of playful energy and unfiltered honesty into my work with clients. I aim to create a space where we can tackle tough topics directly and safely, a place where we don’t have to shy away from what’s uncomfortable. I believe that real growth happens when we take on those challenges together—boldly and honestly. I think people are a lot stronger than they often give themselves credit for, and I’m here to help you discover and nurture your own resilience along the way. If you are struggling with making changes in your life, feel stuck in the same old problems, and are ready to embrace change, schedule an appointment today.

Let’s go on an adventure together

Dragons are fantastic creatures—and your dragons may not be quite as scary as you think.
